The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships

Harvey help for Gina

At the very beginning of my yoga journey, I had just moved to Katy, Texas and was feeling very alone. My family was back in Ohio and I had no friends. By chance, I found Yoga West Studio and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.  In countless classes, I would lie in savasana with tears streaming from my eyes.  One of my very first teachers was Gina LeRoy-Carter.  During these classes Gina noticed and she took the time to comfort me.  We became friends and at one point she told me that “we (your yoga community) will be your family”.

My friend, Gina, has lost everything in the floods caused by Hurricane Harvey.  She and her husband were taken to safety, but their home, all belongings, and car were swallowed up by the water.  All she has is what she was able to throw in a couple bags.  Gina supported me when I had no family near, and I believe family takes care of family.

If you are reading this, you are part of a family… a community here at The Yoga Loft in Shawnee Hills. I ask you to help take care of one of our own.  Please, if you can find it in your heart go to
