Teaching Restorative Yoga: A Mindfulness Approach with Tiffany

TEACHING RESTORATIVE YOGA:

A Mindful Approach, with Tiffany

Our society has conditioned us to associate success with busyness. We may believe the more we do, the more we commit, the more places we go - the more successful we are. What however, happens to a body that is in continual motion? High school science tells us that it stays in motion at the same speed unless acted upon by an outside force. Often, the outside forces are things that completely take us off course such as illness, injury or physical manifestations of stress. When our body is still, restores at a very deep level. When our protective nervous system is quieted and our resting nervous system is able to do its job, we create for ourselves an internal environment for renewal .

Restorative Yoga is the yoga of BEING – not DOING. Our job as yoga teachers is to create the experience in which students are able to find the benefits of stillness. We have the opportunity to support them in establishing the mindfulness of how their body feels at rest. By bringing ease to their breath, clarity to their thoughts, and stillness to their bodies, we as teachers support a healing environment for each body in our class.

In my weekend immersion, you will learn the optimal conditions in which the science of Restorative Yoga works. You will learn how to properly support a body in Restorative Yoga poses, experience how each pose feels, as well as learn the perfect balance of mindful instruction and silence. Hands-on use of props and open conversation regarding how each pose can be personalized will empower you to create a Restorative Yoga class that keeps them coming back for more. Join me on these dates and embody this beautiful practice.
